Prepared fresh. Made onsite. Smooth, rich, creamy, and delicious. It really is the frozen custard difference. The Meadows Original Frozen Custard is a superior premium ice cream dessert. It’s softer than regular scoop ice cream but firmer than soft-serve, and creamier than both. Our basic ingredients are milk, cream, sugar, and egg yolk. The single difference that makes custard different is the egg yolk. Without egg it would just be ice cream. The egg yolk acts as an emulsifier and is what gives custard its silky-smooth texture.
But that’s not all that makes The Meadows Original Frozen Custard better… Our custard has real cream, real sugar, and a higher butterfat content which gives the custard its delectable creaminess. The richness and density of the custard comes from the low “overrun”, or air content. Air is not pumped into the mix, nor is it added as an “ingredient” as compared to typical soft serve, hard ice cream, or frozen yogurt, which can have as much as 100% overrun. At 100% overrun the product doubles in size meaning that half of the product is air. The more air the ice cream has, the coarser the texture of the ice cream due to the size of ice crystals. When made properly, frozen custard only has 20% overrun so you are tasting more of the actual product and getting more product for your money. After all, air is free and we don’t think that you should be buying it in your frozen dessert!
