Our History

The Meadows Original Frozen Custard got its start in the summer of 1950 when J.V., Richard, and Delbert Meadows opened a small custard stand in Duncansville, Pennsylvania. Lines over fifty people deep formed immediately! It was an instant success and remains a great success to this day. Now considered a tourist attraction and featured on The Travel Channel’s Taste of America, the Duncansville location is still in operation and owned by the Meadows family.

Ok, as someone who was originally from PA and was used to eating Meadows ice cream from the original location, I am so glad I found this place closer to where I now call home. Meadows ice is amazing, and with the flavors they have, it pushes it over the top. I was a little sad that I missed the birthday cake ice cream.  But I will be back for sure!

It took us awhile because there was only one person working and it got real busy but she was cheerful and pleasant and made some dandy turtle sundaes. It’s a bit of a drive for us but sooo good. Try the butter pecan too.

I got the custard nachos with the dulce du Leche (pardon my spelling) falvor that they had today. They were delicious. The waffer was not soggy and melted in your mouth. The custard was perfect. My new favorite place!
